Information about Sponsoring your Spouse or Partner within Canada or Outside of Canada

There are two types of Spousal / Common-Law Sponsorship Applications:

This application is for a spouse or common-law partner of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who wish to apply for permanent residence while both the sponsor and the applicant are residing in Canada.

This application is for spouses, common-law, or conjugal partners of Canadian citizens or permanent residents who wish to apply for permanent residence if:

1. Both the sponsor and the applicant are residing outside of Canada and both intend to live in Canada once PR has been issued to the applicant
   
   -OR-
   
2. The sponsor lives in Canada and the applicant lives outside of Canada
