Canada's Federal Skilled Worker Immigration Program
The Canadian government has introduced 29 Skilled Worker positions that will be fast tracked to immigrate to Canada. As of July 1, 2011 only 500 people in each of the 29 occupations will be processed per year to a maximum total of 10,000 skilled workers.
The revised Federal Skilled Worker Class covers certain occupations, allowing skilled workers within these occupations to receive their permanent residence status in approximately one year, although processing times vary greatly depending on the country of application. You can also apply under this category for permanent residence in Canada if you have an Arranged Employment Opinion (AEO) or valid work permit with a Canadian employer.
Red Seal Immigration assists foreign skilled workers with immigration so you can join the Canadian workforce faster and have confidence in the accuracy and completeness of your application.
Immigrate to Canada, Work in Canada
There are several ways for an international skilled worker to move to Canada as a permanent resident and begin working in the Canadian labour market for any employer. The following may qualify you for the Federal Skilled Worker Class if you:
- You have at least 1 year of full time work experience in the last 10 years in any high skill level occupation and an approved Arranged Employment Offer (AEO) or current work permit with a Canadian employer, or,
- You have a least 1 year of experience in one of the 29 occupational categories identified by immigration (see the list below).
Priority Occupations that Qualify for Federal Skilled Worker Immigration
The Federal Skilled Worker program covers numerous occupations - see the list of skilled worker occupations and descriptions below.
These skilled worker positions were fast tracked after employers established with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) that they have been struggling to find new employees for open positions. With the need for temporary foreign workers in these occupations recognized by CIC, qualified foreign skilled workers now have the opportunity to become a permanent resident without a job offer.
